Five of Riot’s most popular first-party games, including Valorant and League Of Legends, are coming to Xbox Game Pass on December 12. This is part of Riot’s partnership with Microsoft, but you won’t actually need to play these games in Game Pass to get free in-game goodies and unlockables.
All you need is a Riot Games account and Xbox Game Pass membership to claim the loot that will be available from December 12. If you connect before January 1, you can take advantage of even more in-game freebies.
There was a partnership announced June 2022but official tweet from Riot Games has confirmed when we can expect both this and the rewards you’ll receive for connecting.
In just 4 days we are entering #XboxGamePass! Starting today, link your Riot account and Xbox profile to get ready for #TheUnlock and earn these extra in-game rewards on all titles for a limited time. 👉 Here’s how pic.twitter.com/VUdj4JtXFhDecember 8, 2022
The spoils of war
If you’re not sure how to link your accounts, Riot Games already has published a comprehensive guide (opens in a new tab) both to the partnership and how to link accounts. Once you do, you’ll have access to in-game goodies for the following games when they appear in Game Pass:
- Brave
- League of Legends
- Legends of Runeterra
- Teamfight tactics
- League of Legends: Wild Rift
The League of Legends: Wild Rift mobile game was one of the first mobile games to come with Game Pass, but just because it’s on a different platform doesn’t mean you won’t get free stuff. Players will receive pre-release unlocks for all current and future characters.
Similarly for League of Legends players, you’ll have all 160 champions unlocked and an XP buffer to boot.
Valorant players who link their Riot and Game Pass accounts will also receive all playable heroes unlocked. You will receive 20 percent more XP towards your Event Pass, Battle Pass, and Agent Progression. Speaking of agents, you’ll also unlock every future character from day one, meaning this is the only gift that will continue to give.
Linking your accounts also means you’ll receive all Foundation cards in Legends of Runeterra, a game that can be played on both PC and mobile.
Teamfights Tactics fans will receive four arena skins and a rare Little Legend tactician added to their game. Starting in April 2023, affiliated players will receive a new arena skin as part of the rotation every month.
If you haven’t purchased your membership yet, you can now purchase Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $14.99 / £10.99 / AU$20 per month.
